Why buy LEGO?
Many people consider LEGO to be expensive. However, it’s a toy that promotes creativity and has endless play value due to the modular nature of the brick.
Another point to note is that LEGO produces a quality product compared to cheaper toys or fake products. As a parent, would you risk your children’s health with toys that may contain harmful chemicals?
Where to buy LEGO?
I’m sure you may already be attracted to LEGO hence you are still reading this blog post. So as a fellow collector, parent and fan of LEGO, here’s where I usually get cheaper LEGO.
- Buying from LEGO.com
Why go elsewhere but straight to the source. Although some retailers have LEGO priced lower, LEGO.com has a VIP program that is free to join. Every purchase gets you VIP points to off set your next purchase.
Look out for free polybags or other giveaways when planning your purchase. The free polybag could be sold away or added to your collection. Also purchases above $75 get free shipping.
There is also a pick a brick section to buy missing pieces that have been lost. It’s a great way to manage your purchases to hit the magical price of $75 for free shipping or free gifts.
Another place I often purchase LEGO from is one of the largest online retailers Amazon.com where they sell almost everything. Amazon often has sales that bring the prices lower than retail.
- Buying from Bricklink.com
Another resource to purchase LEGO is from bricklink.com which is like an eBay for LEGO. There you will find hundreds of stores and sellers of almost every single type of LEGO brick ever created.
It’s the place to go for purchase of missing parts or parts to build your own MOCs. Generally not recommended for buying complete sets as prices tend to be on the higher side.
When to buy LEGO?
When to buy LEGO is also very important as where to buy it. LEGO often releases a new set from anywhere between 6 months to a few years.
Once the set is discontinued, prices start to get expensive for popular sets. So if you see something you like that’s just been released, be patient and wait for a sale on Amazon or when there’s a free gift or minifigure from LEGO.com to purchase.
However, if the set has been released for some time, it’s better to buy it at retail price or end up paying more for it later once it’s discontinued.
On every mini review of the LEGO sets I’ve listed, is information such as the year it was released and original retail price. There are also links to LEGO.com or Amazon.com prices for easy reference in making a fast easy decision and best deal in buying the LEGO set.
