Besides the Maersk Train 10219, another train set that is really beautifully designed is the Emerald Night 10194.

The completed build includes the steam engine, tender and dining car. It also comes with 3 minifigures but does not included any tracks or power functions.

This set can be motorised through the addition of AAA Battery Box 88000, IR Receiver 8884, IR Speed Remote Control 8879 and XL Motor 8882.

One of the differences between this the Emerald Night 10194 and other recent LEGO trains is that it does not use the Power Function train motor 88002 to motorise.

This is because the XL Motor 8882 designed to fit inside the steam engine to drive pistons which in turn move the wheels.

This is the description from Lego.com describing this set.

With piston-powered wheels, this train is an all-new LEGO® classic! Here comes the Emerald Night! Build this incredible classic-styled train with loads of amazing details, from the steam locomotive with furnace to the opening tender and dining car with removable roof, opening doors and detailed interior. Measures 27.2″ (68cm) long! Includes three minifigures, elements in rare colors and all-new large train wheels with piston motion!

Yes I would have to agree with the opening sentence. This set is really an all-new LEGO classic train and is now very popular. Although prices have risen after it has been discontinued, it could potentially go higher as with some of the older 9v LEGO trains.
